Aurobindo receives approval for Citalopram oral solution

Aurobindo Pharma Ltd has announced that its product Citalopram oral solution 10mg/5ml has bagged USFDA approval. The Company already has approval of Citalopram tablets of 10,20, and 40mg strengths in tablet form.

Citalopram belongs to a class of medication called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Citalopram is indicated in the treatment of depressive disorders.

This approval opens an opportunity of over 4mn USD market additionally to the Company.

Citalopram is a generic equivalent of Forest Laboratories’ Celexa.

With this the Company has 30 of its products approved by USFDA, inclusive of tentative approvals.
