Indian markets closed the trading session on Monday on a steeply lower note led by the Healthcare, Power and automobile stocks and also the escalating global crude oil prices owing to the Russian intervention in Ukraine.
Nifty closed at 6221.45 down by 55.50 points or 0.88% over the previous day closing of 6276.95 after witnessing a low of 6212.25 and a high of 6277.75. Sensex closed at 20946.65 down by 173.47 points or 0.82% over the previous day closing of 21120.12. It touched an intraday low of 20920.98 and an intraday high of 21140.00.
The markets' breadth was negative. Out of 2804 stocks traded 1204 stocks advanced, 1480 stocks declined and 120 stocks remained unchanged. In Sensex, Out of 30 stocks 05 stocks advanced and 25 stocks declined.
Among the sectors, BSE Healthcare, BSE Power and B S E Auto were the main losers of the day which decreased by 1.55%, 1.18% and 1.18% respectively.
In BSE Healthcare sector, Drreddy's Lab, Sun Pharma, and Cipla decreased by 2.97%, 2.75% and 1.99% respectively. In BSE Power sector JP Power, JSW Energy and BHEL declined by 15.51%, 3.67% and 2.81% respectively. In BSE Auto, Cummins India, Mahindra and Mahindra and Bosch decreased by 3.52%, 2.22% and 1.68% respectively.
