Krishan Sachdev elected President of Refrigeration and Airconditioning Manufacturers' Association (RAMA)

Mr Krishan Sachdev, Managing Director, Carrier Midea India Private Limited has been elected as the President of the Refrigeration and Airconditioning Manufacturers' Association (RAMA) on February 26, 2014. This appointment is for a two-year period. Mr Sachdev succeeds Mr B Thiagarajan, Blue Star Limited, who held the position since February 2012.

RAMA is the apex forum of the industry leaders and representatives of major manufacturers including MNCs in the Refrigeration and Airconditioning industry in India.

RAMA is affiliated to the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Given the poor penetration levels, the market potential for airconditioning and refrigeration products in India is huge; and RAMA plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the industry not only grows at a high rate, but also delivers globally competitive products and services.

While thanking the members of RAMA for assigning the responsibility to lead the Association, Mr Sachdev said that there are some important initiatives which RAMA would pursue on priority. These are:

- Working closely with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency to take the Energy Labelling Programme and the ECBC to next phase of implementation.

- Working closely with the Ozone Cell of the Ministry of Environment & Forests in the Refrigerants programme.

- Finalizing Testing Standards for Central Airconditioning equipment in close collaboration with Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Airconditioning Engineers (ISHRAE).

- Working with different departments of the Union Government to get various issues such as Taxation and other related issues for the benefit of the growth of the Industry.

- Engage with other members to ensure better participation in the initiatives of RAMA across the board.

In his capacity as the Managing Director, Mr Sachdev has the overall responsibility of Carrier brand residential airconditioners and Midea brand products in HVAC and home appliances segment.

A B Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Delhi and an MBA from FMS Delhi University, Mr Sachdev comes with career experience across various capacities in Carrier India, with which he was associated since 1987.
