Radix gives away Hyundai Eon to boost channel sales

Radix Registry - Asia's largest applicant for a variety of new top level domains and a participant in ICANN's internet naming expansion process, the new gTLD program, today announced the conclusion of the '.in.net CARnival', a three month channel incentive programme for domain resellers in the country, aimed at creating awareness and boosting adoption of '.in.net'- a dedicated namespace for India.

Explaining the significance of an India focused extension, Sandeep Ramchandani, Business Head, Radix Registry said, "Currently India is a hot bed for upcoming SMEs and entrepreurial ventures that are looking to establish an online presence and reach out to relevant consumers. However, given the scarcity of good domain names in primary generic domain extensions such as .com, '.in.net' offers a plethora of opportunities to Indian entrepreneurs and India focused businesses to establish their web repute and help them with a new experience in online branding."

Spread over three months, the channel incentive program which began on October 17th, 2013 was aimed at rewarding the channel partner who ensured maximum number of additions to the .in.net stable, with a brand new Hyundai Eon car. The programme was well received and triggered a substantial spike in registrations. The .in.net CARnival, which ended on January 20th, 2014 saw participation from 400 domain resellers across the country. Mr Mohan Raj from DTP India was eventually declared the winner. On winning the car, Mr. Raj had said, "I am absolutely thrilled to have won the .in.net CARnival and of course, the Hyundai Eon -thank you, Radix! The past three months of the contest have been very exciting and I'm delighted to have been a part of it. The .in.net extension presents a great opportunity for the Indian domain name space and I am glad that my effort in promoting the domain extension to customers has been very successful"

Commenting on the rationale underlying the launch of this scheme, Mr. Ramchandani further added, "In a country where people still hesitate to build their websites themselves and rely on third party outsourcing and web-designers, the channel community acts as a crucial component between us and the end-customers. The initiative was therefore built, keeping this relationship in mind and rewarding our best partners for the value they add to our business."

As the internet gets ready for the next phase of expansion, most of the developed countries will be getting their own city-specific new TLDs. However there isn't a single new city or geo-specific Indian TLD that is coming up. Combine this with the steadily increasing population of Indian internet users that is expected to reach 350 million by 2016 and 243 million by end of this year alone, the '.in.net' namespace is well poised to bridge this gap.

Some of the India focused websites that are powered by the .in.net domain include, 'Cic.in.net', an India specific search directory for B2B customers; 'panchayat.in.net',- a website dedicated to the gram panchayats in India. From this we can see that Radix's vision for the .in.net namespace is therefore to popularize it as the domain extension of choice for India focused businesses and take a step to bridge the demand-supply gap in the current market situation.
