Indian markets closed the session lower on Tuesday majorly dragged by the Metal, Realty and the IT sector.
Nifty closed at 6241.85 down by 30.90 points or 0.49percent over the previous day closing of 6272.75 after witnessing a low of 6234.15 and a high of 6280.35. Sensex closed at 21032.88 down by 101.33 points or 0.48percent over the previous day closing of 21134.21. It touched an intraday low of 21009.05 and high of 21154.76.
The markets' breadth was negative. Out of 2825 stocks traded 1211 stocks advanced, 1485 stocks declined and 129 stocks remained unchanged. In Sensex, Out of 30 stocks 08 stocks advanced and 22 stocks declined.
Among the sectors, BSE Metal, BSE Realty and BSE IT were the main losers of the day which decreased by 1.41percent, 1.40percent and 0.67percent respectively.
In BSE Metal sector, Tata Steel, Jindal steel and NMDC decreased by 2.91percent,2.46percent and 1.84 percent respectively.
In BSE Realty sector Prestige estates, DLF and Anantraj declined by 2.79percent, 2.33percent and 2.32percent respectively. In BSE IT sector Mindtree, Indian Info and Mphasis decreased by 6.25percent, 4.80percent and 3.03percent respectively.
