Markets continued to head lower for the fifth consecutive day as inflation spiked up to a fourteen-month high, fuelling concerns that the RBI might go for a rate hike in its policy meet this week. Nifty lost 13.70 points or 0.22 percent to conclude trade at 6154.70 and Sensex shut shop at 20659.52, losing 56.06 points or 0.27 percent.
Sectoral indices were mixed in nature with gainers out-numbering losers. The biggest gainer was the IT index, followed by Consumer durables and Teck Indices. Oil & Gas space emerged as the biggest loser followed Auto & FMCG Indices.
