Tayo Rolls to diversify into forging & manufacture of forged rolls

Tayo Rolls Ltd has announced that the Board of Directors of the Company at its meeting held on September 07, 2006, has given in principle approval for putting up an integrated manufacturing facilities for forgings and forged rolls at its Works in Adityapur, Jamshedpur.

Promoted by Tan Steel in 1968 in collaboration, with Yodogawa Steel Works Ltd and Nisshow Iwai Corporation (now Sojitz Corporation), Japan. The Company has maintained its leadership in the domestic market by supplying high quality Cast Rolls of Spun Cast and Static grades to leading steel producers. The Company also exports nearly 30% of its production in overseas market which include Corus, Thyssen, Arcelor-Mittal Steel and others.

To meet the growing require of Cold Rolling Mills in India, the Company collaborated with Union Electric Steel Corporation, USA, a leading Forged Roll manufacturer world-wide in 1999 for "Finish machining of rough turned hardened forged steel rolls" procured from UES, USA and supplying to the quality conscious steel plants.

Already an established player in Roll industry, the Company will now put up integrated Forging and Induction Hardening facilities to produce Quality Forged Rolls and Engineering Forgings and Forging Quality Ingots. The Company hopes to fulfill the growing demand for Forged Rolls and Engineering Forgings in a big way in the coming years.

The Company will thus not only strengthen its eminent position of quality supplier of Cast and Forged Rolls in the World, but also diversify into Engineering Forgings which would address fast growing demand in Energy, Infrastructure, Chemicals and Petrochemical industries.

The completion of this project would give the Company a unique distinction of totally integrated one stop shop in Cast and Forged Rolls, Engineering Castings and Forgings.
