The key gainers include banking and metal shares. The BSE Sensex closed higher at 20,882.89, up by 467.38 points or 2.29% and Nifty closed at 6189.35, up by 143.50 points or 2.37%.
The Bank Nifty closed higher at 10744.90 (+408.35 points or 3.95%). All components of the Bank Nifty ended the day in green. The key gainers were Indusind Bank(+6.39%), Axis Bank(+5.55%), ICICI Bank(+4.68%), Canara Bank(+3.64%), Kotak Bank(+3.47%), Yes Bank(+3.25%), HDFC Bank(+3.04%), SBI(+2.64%), Union Bank of India(+2.57%), Bank of Baroda(+2.57%), PNB(+2.46%) and Bank of India(+2.26%). The BSE Bankex ended higher at 12,254.23 (+3.93%).
The top gainers in Nifty were Indusind Bank (+6.39%), Tata Steel (+6.09%), Sesa-Sterlite (+5.97%), Axis Bank (+5.55%) and JP Associates (+5.14%). Out of 50 stocks in Nifty, 49 were gainers and only 1 stock was a loser. Bajaj Auto was the only stock that closed marginally negative in Nifty. The stock closed the day at Rs. 2152.95, down by Rs. 0.35 or 0.02%.
Out of 30 stocks in BSE Sensex, 29 stocks closed in the green with Bajaj Auto alone closing in the red.
