Nifty opened near the 5900 mark on Friday but soon started to drift lower. It tested a low of 5820 before closing at 5833. A breach of 5800 on the Nifty would take it lower up to 5680-5700 zone while on the upside 6000 is likely to act as a stiff resistance in the near term.
Nifty Call options of strike 5900 added 12,104 lots to open interest while Nifty Put options of strike 5100 had a build up of 9,804 lots.
Nifty Put Call ratio (OI) stands at 1.03 with the total open interest in Call options at 986,047 lots and that in Put options at 1,018,093 lots.
MRF Ltd, Bata India, Divis Laboratories and TCS appear relatively strong while Tata Steel, LIC Housing Finance, Reliance Infrastructure and Dr Reddy's Laboratories are likely to remain weak.
Volatility Index rose by 0.25% from 24.00 to 24.06.
