Indian markets ended the volatile session on a flat note on Tuesday. Capital goods, auto and power stocks gained while metal, PSU and IT stocks witnessed a fall.
Nifty closed at 5892.45 up by 2.70 points or 0.05 % over the previous day closing of 5889.75 after witnessing a low of 5854.55 and a high of 5938.40. Sensex closed at 19920.21 up by 19.25 points or 0.10% over the previous day closing of 19900.96.It touched an intraday low of 19782.78 and high of 20050.42.
The markets' breadth was negative. Out of 2468 stocks traded 1147 stocks advanced, 1168 stocks declined and 153 stocks remained unchanged. In Sensex, Out of 30 stocks 08 stocks advanced and 22 stocks declined.
Among the sectors, BSE Capital Goods, BSE Auto and BSE Power were the main gainers of the day which increased by 1.05%, 1.05% and 0.78% respectively. In BSE Capital Goods sector Suzlon Energy, L&T and AIA Engineering increased by 2.35%,1.82% and 1.29% respectively. In BSE Auto sector Ashok Leyland, Bajaj Auto, and M&M advanced by 7.93% 2.73% and 1.38% respectively. In BSE Power sector GMR Infra, Suzlon Energy and Tata Power increased by 3.45% 2.35% and 2.15% respectively.
