Indian Markets end Tuesday's session on a flat note

Indian Markets were lacklustre during the trading on Tuesday, with the markets ending the session almost flat. The BSE Sensex closed the day at 19,920.21, up by 19.25 points or 0.10%. The NSE Nifty closed the day at 5892.45, up by 2.70 points or 0.05%.

The Banking stocks continued to remain under pressure as Fitch downgrades ratings of few Indian Banks. Bank of India (-5.08%), Yes Bank (-2.72%), Union Bank of India (-1.60%), Bank of Baroda (-1.59%), Canara Bank (-0.93%), HDFC Bank (-0.76), SBI (-0.75%) and Axis Bank (-0.39%) were the losers in Bank Nifty. Industind Bank (+0.69%), ICICI Bank (+0.28%) and Kotak Bank (+0.23%) were the gainers in Bank Nifty, while PNB remained unchanged.

The markets will continue to remain volatile ahead of the expiry of the September derivatives contract on Thursday of this week.

The Auto Stocks were the leaders in Tuesday's trading with Ashok Leyland closing higher by 8.27% at Rs. 15.05 (up Rs.1.15). The othe gainers were Eicher Motors (+5.70%), Bajaj Auto (+2.80%), Amararaja Batteries (+1.97%), M&M (+1.64%), Exide Industries (+1.42%).

The Bank Nifty closed the day at 10175.90, down by 35.80 points or 0.35%.
