Indian Markets settled sharply higher on Monday - Microsec

Indian markets settled sharply higher on Monday led by metal, FMCG and realty stocks.

Nifty closed at 5550.75 up by 78.95 points or 1.44% over the previous day closing of 5471.80 after witnessing a low of 5478.85 and a high of 5564.90. Sensex closed at 18886.13 up by 266.41 points or 1.43% over the previous day closing of 18619.72.It touched an intraday low of 18678.93 and high of 18942.06.

The markets' breadth was positive. Out of 2400 stocks traded 1400 stocks advanced, 851 stocks declined and 149 stocks remained unchanged. In Sensex, Out of 30 stocks 23 stocks advanced and 07 stocks declined.

Among the sectors, BSE Metal, BSE FMCG and BSE Realty were the main gainers of the day which increased by 3.16%, 3.10% and 3.00% respectively.

In BSE Metal sector Tata steel, Hindalco Inds, and NMDC increased by 5.54%,3.77% and 3.20% respectively. In BSE FMCG sector United Brew, Jubilant Food and GSK Consumer advanced by 8.91% 5.16% and 3.80% respectively. In BSE Realty sector Indiabulls Real estate, DLF and Unitech increased by 6.15% 5.36% and 4.83% respectively.
