In early trade, key benchmark indices trimmed losses after a weak opening triggered by the Indian Rupee (INR) plunging to record low against the US dollar (USD).
The Markets weakened once again to hit fresh intraday low in morning trade on continued INR weakness. The weakness continued on the bourses in early afternoon trade.
Sensex ended lower by 320 points and Nifty closed 93 points in the red. Small Cap and Mid Cap Index outperformed relative to the Sensex. Mid-Cap Index fell 1.4% and Small-Cap Index ended 0.9% lower.
The Market breadth was Negative, while declines were 1.5 times advances.
