Indian indices edge higher in choppy trade - Standard Chartered Securities

Key benchmark indices edged higher in choppy trade as European stocks rose after Chinese trade data for July 2013 signaled improvement in economic conditions for the world's second biggest economy. The Sensex jumped 0.67%.

Realty stocks gained for the second straight day. Mining and metal stocks rose after China reported much better than expected trade results for July. Ranbaxy Laboratories jumped after the company reported improved Q2 results. Asian Paints rose after completing acquisition of majority stake in Sleek Group.

Markets expected to open flat following weak Global and Asian markets. The last batch of Q1 corporate results, macroeconomic data, trend in investment by FIIs, movement of rupee against the dollar, and trend in global markets will dictate trend for the week. Investors will keep a close watch on the ongoing monsoon session of parliament as a heavy legislative business has been lined up by the government.
