Sterlite Industries Ltd announced its Q1FY14 results on 25th July, 2013.
The company arrived at net sales of INR8189.95 crore, which was surpassed the consensus estimates by 15.67%, however, it shrinked by 22.67% and 35.05% on YoY and QoQ basis. The EBITDA for the quarter was INR1942.85 crore which was down by 7.08% and 41.25% on YoY and QoQ basis. Revenue and EBITDA were lower primarily on account of a temporary closure of the Tuticorin copper smelter, which was partially offset by higher power generation at the Jharsuguda 2,400 MW power plant and higher production at Zinc India. Temporary closure of the Tuticorin smelter negatively impacted EBITDA by INR180 crore. The company posted net profit of INR933.97crore, which was down by 22.27% and 51.47% on YoY and QoQ basis.
