Indian equities ended the July expiry series sharply lower on Thursday led by FMCG, metal and healthcare stocks. Nifty closed at 5907.50 down by 83.00points or 1.39% over the previous day closing of 5990.50 after witnessing a low of 5896.40 and a high of 5990.65. Sensex closed at 19804.76 down by 285.92 points or 1.42% over the previous day closing of 20090.68.It touched an intraday low of 19763.90 and high of 20110.81.
The markets' breadth was negative. Out of 2443 stocks traded 850 stocks advanced, 1419 stocks declined and 174 stocks remained unchanged. In Sensex, Out of 30 stocks 05 stocks advanced and 25 stocks declined.
Among the sectors, BSE FMCG, BSE Metal and BSE Healthcare were the main losers of the day which decreased by 3.33%, 1.73% and 1.64% respectively.
In BSE FMCG sector, ITC, HUL, and United Breweries decreased by 4.57%,3.21% and 3.19% respectively. In BSE Metal sector NMDC, Tata Steel and Jindal Steel advanced by 3.70% 2.96% and 2.57% respectively. In BSE Healthcare sector Wockhardt, Strides Acrolab and Glenmark Pharma increased by 3.42% 3.37% and 3.10% respectively.
