Indian equities settled higher on Wednesday led by IT, FMCG and Teck sectors.
Nifty closed at 5836.95 down by 66.05points or 1.14% over the previous day closing of 5770.90 after witnessing a low of 5786.05 and a high of 5848.20. Sensex closed at 19410.84 up by 233.08 points or 1.22% over the previous day closing of 19177.76.It touched an intraday low of 19245.01 and high of 19445.02.
The markets' breadth was positive. Out of 2430 stocks traded 1249 stocks advanced, 1041 stocks declined and 140 stocks remained unchanged. In Sensex, Out of 30 stocks 21 stocks advanced and 09 stocks declined.
Among the sectors, BSE IT, BSE FMCG and BSE Teck were the main gainers of the day which increased by 2.73%, 2.69% and 2.35% respectively.
In BSE IT sector, HCL Tech, Hexaware Tech and TCS increased by 4.10%,3.94% and 3.26% respectively.
In BSE FMCG sector ITC, Colgate Palmolive and HUL advanced by 3.74% 2.71% and 2.27% respectively. In BSE Teck sector Tech Mahindra, Bharti Airtel and Infosys increased by 3.08% 2.38% and 2.29% respectively.
