Indian markets settled sharply higher on Monday led by gains seen in auto, capital goods, IT and consumer durables. However, metal, realty and PSU stocks declined.
Nifty closed at 5850.05 up by 41.65points or 0.72% over the previous day closing of 5808.40 after witnessing a low of 5770.25 and a high of 5854.90. Sensex closed at 19325.87 up by 147.94 points or 0.77% over the previous day closing of 19177.93.It touched an intraday low of 19084.68 and high of 19334.28.
The markets' breadth was positive. Out of 2432 stocks traded 1205 stocks advanced, 1091 stocks declined and 136 stocks remained unchanged. In Sensex, Out of 30 stocks 23 stocks advanced and 07 stocks declined.
Among the sectors, BSE Auto, BSE Capital Goods and B S E Teck were the main gainers of the day which increased by 1.90%, 1.15% and 1.09% respectively.
In BSE Auto sector, M&M, Bajaj Auto and Cummins India increased by 4.43%, 2.50% and 1.45% respectively. In BSE Capital Goods sector Crompton Greaves, BHEL and ABB advanced by 3.99%,3.37% and 2.94% respectively. In BSE Teck sector Rcom, Dish TV and Financial Tech increased by 3.92%, 3.22% and 2.85% respectively.
