Indian equities ended lower on Thursday on concerns over weakness in rupee. Healthcare, oil & gas, power and metal stocks lost ground. However, banking and realty stocks gained.
Nifty closed at 5921.40 down by 2.45 points or 0.04 % over the previous day closing of 5923.85 after witnessing a low of 5869.50 and a high of 5956.55. Sensex closed at 19519.49 down by 48.73 points or 0.25% over the previous day closing of 19568.22.It touched an intraday low of 19395.32and high of 19635.37.
The markets' breadth was negative. Out of 2502 stocks traded 1140 stocks advanced, 1226 stocks declined and 136 stocks remained unchanged. In Sensex, Out of 30 stocks 10 stocks advanced19 stocks declined and 01 stock remain unchanged.
Among the sectors, BSE Healthcare, BSE Oil & Gas, BSE Power were the main losers of the day which decreased by 1.19%, 0.72% and 0.59% respectively.
In BSE Healthcare sector, Opto circuits, Glenmark Pharma and Piramal Ent decreased by 8.51%, 3.56% and 2.11% respectively. In BSE Oil & Gas sector IOC , GAIL India and RIL declined by 1.95%, 1.08% and 1.03% respectively. In BSE Power sector Lanco Infra NTPC Steel, Hindalco Inds and Adani Power decreased by 3.48% 1.85% and 1.45% respectively.
