Indian Equity Indices close slightly higher - Microsec

The Indian equity indices closed slightly up on Wednesday, lifted by a 2.6 % surge in Reliance Industries shares ahead of the company's annual general meeting Thursday.

Nifty closed at 5923.85 up by 4.40 points or 0.07 % over the previous day closing of 5919.45 after witnessing a low of 5883.70 and a high of 5935.20. Sensex closed at 19568.22 up by 22.44 points or 0.11% over the previous day closing of 19545.78.It touched an intraday low of 19441.35 and high of 19604.43.

The markets' breadth was negative. Out of 2488 stocks traded 1083 stocks advanced, 1256 stocks declined and 149 stocks remained unchanged. In Sensex, Out of 30 stocks 18 stocks advanced and 12 stocks declined.

Among the sectors, BSE Oil & Gas, BSE Realty, BSE Metal were the main gainers of the day which increased by 1.77%, 1.35% and 0.40% respectively.

In BSE Oil & Gas sector, RIL , ONGC and Petronet LNG increased by 2.56%,1.95% and 0.79% respectively. In BSE Realty sector DLF , Indiabulls Real estate and Unitech advanced by 3.16%, 1.97% and 1.67% respectively. In BSE Metal sector JSW Steel, Hindalco Inds and SAIL increased by 2.40% 1.34% and 0.88% respectively.
