Indian Equity Markets extend losses on Monday - Microsec

The Indian equity markets extended losses on Monday amid weak European cues, as selling pressure come into play.

Nifty closed at 5939.30 down by 46.65 points or 0.78 % over the previous day closing of 5985.95 after witnessing a low of 5916.35 and a high of 6011.00. Sensex closed at 19610.48 down by 149.82points or 0.76% over the previous day closing of 19760.30.It touched an intraday low of 19541.97 and high of 19860.19.

The markets' breadth was negative. Out of 2451 stocks traded 1013 stocks advanced, 1307 stocks declined and 131 stocks remained unchanged. In Sensex, Out of 30 stocks 10 stocks advanced and 20 stocks declined.

Among the sectors, BSE Oil & Gas, BSE Power, BSE Consumer Durables were the main losers of the day which decreased by 1.84%, 1.02% and 0.99% respectively.

In BSE Oil & Gas sector, Oil India, ONGC and RIL decreased by 3.87%, 2.85% and 2.17% respectively. In BSE Power sector Suzlon Energy, Lanco Infra and Crompton Greaves declined by 9.96%,6.11% and 2.23% respectively. In BSE Consumer Durables sector Gitanjali Gems , Titan Inds and TTK Prestige decreased by 3.08% 1.33% and 1.09% respectively.
