Gurunath Meiyappan interrogated by Mumbai Police

The disowned former CEO and Principal of Chennai Super Kings IPL franchisee Mr. Gurunath Meiyappan is being interrogated by the Mumbai Police's Crime Branch Officials at Crawford Market police station.

Gurunath Meiyappan is being interrogated after Vindoo Dara Singh, who has been arrested by the Mumbai Police for spot-fixing in IPL Cricket Matches revealed that he has contacts with Gurunath Meiyappan and he has been betting on IPL matches since 2011.

The Mumbai Police served summons at Gurunath's residence in Chennai on Thursday (May 23, 2013), asking him to appear for interrogation before 5 PM today (May 24, 2013).

Earlier, Mr. Gurunath Meiyappan was with his father-in-law Mr. N Srinivasan at Kodaikanal. He left to Madurai in the afternoon, on his way to Mumbai.

Mr. Gurunath Meiyappan is the son-in-law of Mr. N Srinivasan, the President of BCCI and the promoter of India Cements Ltd. Mr. Gurunath Meiyappan is the son of famous film family AVM, who have studio, theatre and film production business in Chennai.

Earlier in the day, India Cements said that they would co-operate with the authorities on the probe and said Mr. Gurunath Meiyappan is neither CEO or Principal of the IPL team Chennai Super Kings. Even, Mr. Gurunath Meiyappan's twitter account had his relationship with CSK removed.

The Chennai Super Kings website has also removed all the references to Mr. Gurunath Meiyappan.
