The Indian Markets fell for the second successive session Tuesday, as the market is trying to digest the heady gains of the past few weeks. Brokers said share sales by promoters trying to meet the 25 % minimum public shareholding rule, and the US Federal Reserve meeting Wednesday, made buyers cautious.
Nifty closed at 6114.10 down by 42.80 points or 0.70% over the previous day closing of 6102.35 after witnessing a low of 6152.35 and a high of 6180.25. Sensex closed at 20111.61 down by 112.37points or 0.56% over the previous day closing of 20223.98.It touched an intraday low of 20072.68 and high of 20308.04.
The markets' breadth was negative. Out of 2512 stocks traded 940 stocks advanced, 1429 stocks declined and 143 stocks remained unchanged. In Sensex, Out of 30 stocks 09 stocks advanced and 21 stocks declined.
Among the sectors, BSE Realty, BSE Auto, BSE Power were the main losers of the day which decreased by 2.59%, 1.75% and 1.06% respectively.
In BSE Realty sector, Ananatraj , Unitech and HDIL decreased by 4.15%,3.96% and 3.93% respectively. In BSE Auto sector Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki and M&M declined by 3.06%,2.49% and 1.61% respectively. In BSE Power sector NTPC, JSW Energy and GMR Infra decreased by 4.21% 3.85% and 2.94% respectively.
