Indian equities ended on a flat note amid volatility on Thursday. Realty, oil & gas, healthcare and banking stocks gained ground. However, FMCG and IT declined.
Nifty closed at 6169.90 up by 23.15 points or 0.38% over the previous day closing of 6146.75 after witnessing a low of 6128.25 and a high of 6187.30. Sensex closed at 20247.33 up by 34.37points or 0.17% over the previous day closing of 20212.96.It touched an intraday low of 20162.12 and high of 20326.48.
The markets' breadth was negative. Out of 2080 stocks traded 952 stocks advanced, 1032 stocks declined and 96 stocks remained unchanged. In Sensex, Out of 30 stocks 14 stocks advanced and 16 stocks declined.
Among the sectors, BSE Realty ,BSE Oil & Gas BSE Healthcare were the main gainers of the day which increased by 1.81%, 1.64 % and 1.53% respectively.
In BSE Realty sector, Anantraj, Indiabulls Real estate and Oberoi realty increased by 5.45%,5.43% and 3.95% respectively. In BSE Oil & Gas sector Oil India, RIL and HPCL advanced by 3.10%,2.61% and 1.96% respectively. In BSE Healthcare sector Apollo Hosp, Glenmark Pharma and Lupin increased by 8.51% 3.41% and 3.12% respectively.
