The Indian equity benchmarks ended in green led by buying in metal and IT stocks. Asian shares surged across the board on stronger than expected US nonfarm payroll data.
Nifty closed at 5971.05 up by 27.05 points or 0.46% over the previous day closing of 5944.00 after witnessing a low of 5928.45 and a high of 5976.50. Sensex closed at 19673.64 up by 98.00points or 0.50% over the previous day closing of 19575.64.It touched an intraday low of 19554.31 and high of 19694.29.
The markets' breadth was positive. Out of 2487 stocks traded 1339 stocks advanced, 1006 stocks declined and 142 stocks remained unchanged. In Sensex, Out of 30 stocks 21 stocks advanced and 09 stocks declined.
Among the sectors, BSE Metal, BSE IT and BSE Teck were the main gainers of the day which increased by 6.70%, 3.79% and 12.02% respectively.
In BSE Metal sector, Tata Steel, Hindalco Inds, and NMDC increased by 3.58%,3.52% and 2.73% respectively. In BSE IT sector Oracle Fin, TCS and Satyam Comp network advanced by 3.56%,3.25% and 2.58% respectively. In BSE Teck sector MTNL, Onmobile and Rcom increased by 11.79% 2.84% and 2.36 % respectively.
