BASE Students excel in Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) exam 2012

BASE, the Bangalore based, premier training organisation providing quality training for competitive examinations like IIT-JEE, AIEEE, AIPMT, CET and COMEDK has announced that 17 of its students have cleared the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) examination, a Government of India initiative to encourage students of Basic Sciences, Engineering and Medicine to take up research careers. It is funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India and administered by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc, Bangalore).

Speaking on the occasion, Vallish Herur, Director of BASE said: "We are very delighted that many of our students have been selected for the KVPY exam. We have continuously strived hard to better the results each year by providing the students good faculty and conducive atmosphere to learn and prosper."

The "Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana" (KVPY) program started in 1999. The aim of the program is to identify and encourage talented students with aptitude for research. This programme strives to assist the students to realise their potential and to ensure that the best scientific talent is tapped for research and development in the country. Scholarships are provided (up to the pre-Ph.D. level) to the selected students.

The students after 10th class can avail scholarship worth Rs.4,000 per month, along with an annual contingency grant of Rs.16,000. While the students pursuing BSc/ BS/ Integrated MSc and MS can avail scholarship worth Rs.5,000 with an annual contingency grant of Rs.20,000. The students in MSc, 4th to 5th years of Integrated MSC and MS can avail scholarship of Rs.7,000 with an annual contingency grant of Rs.28,000.
