Indian markets just about managed to break a seven-day losing streak, as a 3%-decline in index heavyweight Reliance Industries erased much of the gains.
Nifty closed at 5641.60 up by 7.75points or 0.14% over the previous day closing of 5633.85 after witnessing a low of 5612.05 and a high of 5655.30. Sensex closed at 18704.53 up by 23.11 points or 0.12% over the previous day closing of 18681.42.It touched an intraday low of 18612.37 and high of 18758.88.
The markets' breadth was negative. Out of 2885 stocks traded 1290 stocks advanced, 1459 stocks declined and 136 stocks remained unchanged. In Sensex, Out of 30 stocks 15 stocks advanced 14 stocks declined and 01 stock remain unchanged.
Among the sectors, BSE Consumer Durables ,BSE FMCG and BSE Teck were the main gainers of the day, which increased by 1.59%, 1.13% and 0.66% respectively.
In BSE Consumer Durables sector Titan Inds, Videocon Inds and Whirlpool increased by 2.55%,1.86% and 1.66% respectively. In BSE FMCG sector Dabur India, Godrej Inds and Bharat Forge advanced by
2.72%,2.57% and 2.15% respectively. In BSE Teck sector Jagran Prakashan, Himachal Futures and HT Media increased by 6.91%, 5.08% and 4.76% respectively.
