Indian Markets close with handsome gains - Microsec

It was a steady session for the Indian markets as late trade gathered momentum. Led by strength in banks, the market closed the day with handsome gains.

Nifty closed at 5908.95 up by 57.75points or 0.99% over the previous day closing of 5851.20 after witnessing a low of 5791.75 and a high of 5920.15. Sensex closed at 19570.44 up by 207.89 points or 1.07% over the previous day closing of 19362.55.It touched an intraday low of 19179.33 and high of 19604.70.

The markets' breadth was mixed. Out of 2984 stocks traded 1420 stocks advanced, 1446 stocks declined and 118 stocks remained unchanged. In Sensex, Out of 30 stocks 24 stocks advanced and 06 stocks declined.

Among the sectors, BSE Realty ,BSE Bankex and BSE Capital Goods were the main gainers of the day, which increased by 2.18%, 2.08% and 1.34% respectively.

In BSE Realty sector Prestige Estates, Unitech and AnantRaj increased by 7.97%,6.09% and 3.92% respectively. In BSE Bankex SBI, Canara Bank and Bank of India advanced by 3.51%, 3.31% and 2.41% respectively. In BSE Capital Goods sector Thermax, Crompton Greaves and AIA Engineering increased by 3.16%, 2.23% and 2.20% respectively.
