The Indian markets lost over a % each as traders unwound their long positions in the absence of institutional buying support.
Nifty closed at 5851.20 down by 62.90points or 1.06% over the previous day closing of 5914.10 after witnessing a low of 5842.25 and a high of 5893.85. Sensex closed at 19362.55 down by 202.37 points or 1.03% over the previous day closing of 19564.92.It touched an intraday low of 19338.52 and high of 19511.97.
The markets' breadth was negative. Out of 3013 stocks traded 993 stocks advanced, 1892 stocks declined and 128 stocks remained unchanged. In Sensex, Out of 30 stocks 06 stocks advanced 22 stocks declined and 02 stocks remain unchanged.
Among the sectors, BSE Bankex ,BSE Consumer Durables and BSE Auto were the main losers of the day, which decreased by 2.18%, 1.57% and 1.53% respectively.
In BSE Bankex ICICI Bank, IDBI Bank and Axis Bank, decreased by 3.25%,3.11% and 3.02% respectively. In BSE Consumer Durables sector Rajesh exports, Titan Inds and Blue Star declined by 3.07%,2.44% and 2.29% respectively. In BSE Auto sector Bajaj Auto, Maruti Suzuki and Exide Industries decreased by 3.16%, 3.07% and 3.05% respectively.
