Thapar University and Institute of Life Sciences, France sign MoU

Thapar University, Patiala, one of India's top technical universities, today signed a MoU with Groupe ISA, Institute of Life Sciences, Lille, France for the Exchange of Academic, research information and joint educational programmes. The MoU will focus on topics related to Food and Environmental Biotechnology. This MoU was signed by Prof KK Raina, Director Thapar University and Ms. Florence Malaise, Director International Relations, the Groupe ISA, in presence of Ms. Caroline Gueny, University Cooperation Attache' and the officials from French Embassy.

Groupe ISA is one of the leading Educational Organizations in France, catering to Agriculture, Environment, Food technology and management with a strong involvement of more than 200 leading partner Companies of Europe and France. Through this MoU the students at Thapar University will benefit in terms of Student exchange and faculty exchange Programmes, sharing of information related to research or training programmes sponsored by funding agencies and short-term continuing education programmes on topics of mutual interest. The faculty will also be able to take advantage of this MoU through exchange of information on teaching, learning material and other literature relevant to their educational and research programmes.

From Groupe ISA, Mr. Vincent Bufquin - General Secretary of Groupe ISA, Mrs. Emmanuelle Martin - Academic Director of the MSc in Sustainable Food Technology Management, Mr. Bertrand Pourrut - Academic Director of the MSc in Sustainable Management of Pollution, Ms. Brijveen Sabherwal, Indian Representative, Lille Catholic University - France were present to witness the occasion. From Thapar University, Dr. R.S. Kaler, Dean Resource Planning and Generation, Dr. D.K. Patnaik, Registrar, Dr. M.S. Reddy, Head Biotechnology Department and Dr. A. Ganguli, Co-ordinator Indo-French Interactions, were also present.

Mrs Florence Malaise, Director International Relations, Groupe ISA, Institute of Life Sciences said "The Institute has around 160 partners all around the world who are working towards the research in the field of technical education. In India too we were looking for a name of a similar stature and found that Thapar University is the best choice to work for development in the field of education".
