Led by massive gains in the Oil & Gas sector and stout third quarter earnings by ITC and HDFC Bank among others vogued the benchmark indices shut the shop marking gains of around half a percent with the Sensex parking above the crucial 20000 mark on the last day of the week.
Assertive global indices along with appreciation in INR also aided the surge. Global indices climbed as China's economy accelerated for the first time in two years. Nifty ended the day above the 6050 mark at 6064.40 with gains of 25.20 points and the Sensex closed at 20039.04 accumulating 75.01 points.
Broader indices however, persisted to underperform the benchmarks landing in the negative terrain with loss of around half a percent.
