Indian equities extend losses on Wednesday - Microsec

Indian equities extended losses at the close on Wednesday led by FMCG, consumer durables and metal stocks.

Nifty closed at 5971.50 down by 30.20points or 0.50% over the previous day closing of 6001.70 after witnessing a low of 5958.45 and a high of 6020.10. Sensex closed at 19666.59 down by 75.93 points or 0.38% over the previous day closing of 19742.52. It touched an intraday low of 19627.16 and high of 19824.06.

The markets' breadth was negative. Out of 3101 stocks traded, 1395 stocks advanced, 1575 stocks declined and 131 stocks remained unchanged. In Sensex, Out of 30 stocks 11 stocks advanced and 19 stocks declined.

Among the sectors, BSE FMCG, BSE CD and BSE Metal were the main losers of the day, which decreased by 1.26%, 1.21% and 1.18% respectively.

In BSE Realty sector United Brew, ITC and Godrej Cons decreased by 4.75%,1.93% and 1.64% respectively. In BSE Consumer Durables Gitanjali Gems, Bajaj Elect and Rajesh exports declined by 3.05pcent,2.30% and 1.67% respectively. In BSE Metal sector Bhushan Steel, Tata Steel and SAIL decreased by 7.46%, 2.54% and 1.65% respectively.
