Axis Bank (0.62%), Sun Pharmaceuticals (0.60%), State Bank of India (0.58%), M&M (0.58%) and Tata Steel (0.51%) were among the major losers. Reliance Industries (3.22%), ONGCBSE 2.49 % (2.80%), BPCLBSE 2.23 % (2.40%), WiproBSE 1.31 % (1.63%) and Infosys Technologies (1.58%) were the top Nifty gainers.
Bharti Infratel remained under pressure after a weak debut. The stock closed at Rs 191, down Rs 29 or 13.18%, on the NSE. It touched a high of Rs 200.85 and a low of Rs 188.65 in trade today. It had listed at Rs 200, a discount of Rs 20 or 9.09%.
