Canadian International School celebrates Christmas by spreading a Smile

The festival of Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ and conveys his message of love, tolerance and brotherhood. It's a celebration of humanity and mankind. As a part of Christmas Celebration, the Canadian International School was tastefully decorated, giving a festive feeling, with the happy sound of pealing bells, lights sparkling everywhere, and hymns of joy and peace. The classrooms were decorated with Christmas festoons, hand-made cards, snowflakes, hollies and Christmas Trees. Santa distributed gifts & candies to the children. The Christmas Program was spread over a couple of days of fun & frolic featuring all students PK - 12.

Students, parents & staff participated in the CIS Christmas drive to collect food, stationery, clothes and funds for the less fortunate - organizations like Venkatala Government School Yelahanka, Association for People with Physical Disabilities (APD) and Indira Gandhi International Academy for Sri Lankan refugee children.

"Christmas is a time for celebrating with family and friends. The CIS family celebrated this past week with three wonderful concerts, featuring all students PK - 12. A festive good time was had by all. From all of us at Canadian International School, best wishes this holiday season and a Happy New Year". - Shane Kells, Head of School.

"What a way to end the calendar year when all of us are excited and ready to get into the mood to celebrate with our CIS friends and families. Christmas concert at CIS is a culmination of emotions and memories the CIS children will always cherish beyond the pictures and videos. CIS Christmas celebration this year was again really spectacular..... from kindergarten kids with full of energy on stage in colourful costumes to middle and high school young ones showing of their talents that you can only find in CIS".- Cher Pradhan, Parent.

The CIS Christmas Drive is an annual collection drive that the volunteers of IB2 and IB1 put together for the community to contribute during this festive season in their own little way to help spread the joy of Christmas spirit. The drive, this year, was an astounding success with the whole community contributing generously. We collected old clothes, Stationery, DVD's, Bags, shoes, story books, blankets and water bottles. All proceeds were donated to three organizations - Venkatala Government School Yelahanka, Association for People with Physical Disabilities (APD) and Indira Gandhi International Academy for Sri Lankan refugee children. It is great to see the entire CIS community come together and contribute whole heartedly for a wonderful cause. - Ms. Priya Anand - Community Service Coordinator.

Spreading the spirit of Christmas through the joy of others is the best way to celebrate this holiday! - Harshita Bhattacharya, Grade 12.

We follow the same routine every year, but the one thing that never gets old is the joy you earn by spreading a smile- Danya Vadakkoot, Grade 12.

Thank you once again for the love and kindness you have shown to our children. - Rev.Fr.Jobi Varghese, Devanahalli Boys Hostel.

"We at CIS celebrate various festivals and every care is taken to foster a joyous and festive spirit amongst members of our school community. The most endearing part of our Christmas celebrations every year, is the way our students spread cheer and share smiles with less fortunate members of our society. Our students realize that the best Christmas gift they could receive, is bringing even a moment of joy into the lives of others" adds Ms Shweta Sastri, Executive Director, Canadian International School."
