Technology Alumni Association - Delhi Chapter, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT-KGP) and Magsaysay award winner Harish Hande's social organisation SELCO signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today to give further push to the solar energy sector and lighting up houses without power access in the country .
As per the MoU IIT -KGP Alumni will provide technological expertise and financial support to SELCO for providing off grid electrical solutions for rural and other marginalized segments for low cost clean energy.
"We are proud to be associated with our fellow IIT KGP alumni Harish Hande to provide operational guidance and mentoring support to the local entrepreneurs so that they can get the necessary experience, identify, establish and develop their own energy enterprises," said Mr Yatinder Pal Singh Suri, President, IIT Kharagpur Alumni Association, North India.
Mr Hande speaking on the occasion urged IITian's to adopt one house for providing solar power and 65 % of house holds in country still without power. "It's time for IITian's to payback the nation in form of supporting and developing low cost technologies for house holds in the nation".
Mr Harish Hande who was given the Magsaysay award for his pioneering work of providing solar power in thousand's of houses in villages and slums His social organisation SELCO has provided solar lighting to more than a lakh houses across the nation.
