Sales for India's largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, Tata Motors slipped during the month of September 2012 by 3.82% after marking growth of 12% in the preceding month led by de-growth almost across all its segments, except for the Nano that persisted to outperform the rest of section's of the company. Tata Nano that surged by over five times in the preceding month, clambered 87.02% this month with 5491 units being sold against 2936 units in September last fiscal. Total sales of the company parked at 75773 units against 78783 units being sold in September last year. Compared to the preceding month of August 2012, in which it sold 71826 units, sales edged up by 5.5%.
Total domestic sales of commercial and passenger vehicles for the month slipped by 3.08% to 70332 units against 72566 units in September last year.
In the commercial vehicles segment, the company sold 48,680 units in the domestic market during the month under review compared to 46,247 units in the corresponding period last year, resulting in growth of 5.26% for the segment.
Light commercial vehicle sales stood at 33393 units, registering a growth of 18.87% from 28092 units sold in September last fiscal. Medium and heavy vehicle sales stood at 15287 units, down 15.80% from 18155 units sold in the same month last year.
The company's passenger vehicle segment tripped down by 17.73% in the domestic market year-on-year at 21652 units during September 2012 against 26319 units being sold in the like month last fiscal.
The Indica range reported sales of 7,936 units as against 10,282 units in the year-ago period, translating into slithered sales by 22.82%. The Indigo family recorded sales of 3,706 units, a fall of 52.44% from 7,793 units in the same month last year.
Sales of the Sumo, Safari and Aria dipped by 14.86% to 4,519 units compared to 5,308 units in the corresponding period last year.
The company's exports had decreased by 12.48% to 5,441 units last month from 6,217 units in the same month last year. Equated to the preceding month of August 2012, exports impelled by 24.42%.
Total cumulative sales for over the April-September period of the fiscal FY13 edged up by 1.69% at 480230 units against 472226 units being sold in April-September FY12.
