Comments on RBI Policy - Harsh Pati Singhania, Director - JK Organisation and President, ICC, India

Mr. Harsh Pati Singhania gave his comments on RBI's mid-quarter monetary policy review.

"It was hoped that RBI would reduce Repo Rate to add momentum to the economic revival on the back of Government's recent reform announcements. However, given the current growth/inflation dynamics, perhaps RBI did not want to go for any reversal in its policy stance. The silver lining is the reduction by 25 basis points in CRR to 4.50% (Rs. 170 billion worth additional liquidity in the banking system ). Hopefully this will induce banks to reduce their lending rates further thereby boosting growth."
