The Students also had a session with one of the leading wild life conservationists, Seema Khaleel, who is the Vice President of Tigers Wild life Society of India. This was to make the children aware of the challenges of wild life conservation. CIS in association with ANU which is a sustainable business set up for and by women from the slums of Janakariman, in Kamanahalli, Bangalore organized a Tetra pack Bag fair which received an overwhelming response.
Students at the Canadian International School, Bangalore have also started an environmental organization called "The Green Idea." As one of their projects, they had recently set up a biogas plant in the school. The main aim of the club is to increase awareness among students and staff about various green issues and find ways to implement simple solutions at school.
As part of the green initiative, the tetra packs are collected and send for recycling every fortnight to be made into Tetra bags. Recycling of waste paper and newspapers is an ongoing, year round activity. CIS is also proud to support paperless communication wherever possible.
"We are proud of our students who have taken the green initiatives in the campus. Supporting the Green cause is an important part of our extra-curricular activity. As a school, we are always finding ways to stay ahead of the curve with our green initiatives, adds Ms. Shweta Sastri, Executive Director - Canadian International School, Bangalore.
