BSE Sensex closed higher at 10124.3, up by 11.12 points. Sensex hit an intraday high of 10195.42 and low of 10110.46. Out of 30 stocks in Sensex, 17 were gainers and 13 were losers.
NIFTY closed marginally lower at 3021.6, down by 0.6 points. NIFTY hit an intraday high of 3036.65 and low of 3013.7. Out of 50 stocks in NSE S&P CNX NIFTY, 27 stocks were gainers and 23 were losers.
Dr Reddys Laboratories was the major gainer with the stock zooming ahead by 9.28% at Rs.1280.65, on the announcement of an acquisition in Europe. The stock had a volatile session by hitting an intraday low of Rs.1203 and high of Rs.1295.9.
Other major gainers in NIFTY include SAIL (Rs.60.15, up by 4.7%), Tata Motors (Rs.800.5, up by 3.92%), M&M (Rs.613.1, up by 3.57%), Grasim Industries (Rs.1698.95, up by 3.19%), Hero Honda (Rs.921.25, up by 3.16%), Jet Airways (Rs.974.95, up by 3.15%).
Tata Power and HDFC Bank closed higher by 2.36% and 2.18% respectively. HPCL, Maruti, Zee Tele, BPCL, ACC, Reliance Energy, Hindustan Lever, Tata Steel closed higher by more than 1%.
Tata Tea was the major loser in NIFTY with the stock closing down by 5.52% at Rs.952.5. Other major losers include NALCO (Rs.275.4, down by 3.61%), Ranbaxy Laboratories (Rs.432, down by 3.51%).
ITC, MTNL, Glaxo, Hindalco, Bajaj Auto, GAIL, L&T, WIPRO, Dabur India lost more than 1% during the day.
Dr Reddys Laboratories was the major gainer in Sensex with the stock closing up by 9.38% at Rs.1281.95. Tata Motors (Rs.800.1, up by 4.06%), Hero Honda Motors (Rs.922.15, up by 3.3%), Grasim Industries Ltd (Rs.1697.55, up by 3.14%) were the other major gainers.
Tata Power closed higher by 2.39% at Rs.500.7. HDFC Bank Ltd, Maruti Udyog, ACC, Reliance Energy, Hindustan Lever, Tata Steel closed higher by more than 1%.
Ranbaxy Laboratories was the major loser in Sensex with the stock closing down by 3.31% at Rs.431.85. The other major losers include, ITC Ltd (Rs.166.7, down by 2.29%), Hindalco (Rs.160.1, down by 1.9%), Bajaj Auto (Rs.2372.75, down by 1.64%), WIPRO (Rs.489.65, down by 1.15%).
