Madhukar Gupta takes over as Home Secretary

Shri Madhukar Gupta today took over as Union Home Secretary. He succeeds Shri V.K. Duggal who retired today.

Shri Madhukar Gupta is an IAS Officer of the 1971 batch and belongs to the Uttrakhand Cadre. He will have a tenure of two years as Union Home Secretary.

Shri Madhukar Gupta has held important positions including Secretary, Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Secretary, Department of Fertilisers, Vice Chairman, DDA and Chief Secretary, Uttarakhand. He was also Joint Secretary in charge of Jammu & Kashmir in the Ministry of Home Affairs for five years.
