A web-based 'pensioners' portal' for the welfare of Central (Civil) pensioners (http://www.pensionersportal.gov.in) was inaugurated today by the Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances & Pension Shri Suresh Pachauri. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Pachauri said that it is a dedicated mechanism which would redress the grievances of the pensioners in a time bound manner. He added that the portal has evolved through a series of discussions/consultations with various stakeholders such as pensioners, pensioners’ associations, various Ministries/Departments, etc and the suggestions of the stakeholders have been given due consideration while finalizing the portal.
Apart from providing information and guidance concerning pension and retirement benefits, the portal would help in the redressal of pensioners’ grievances. It would also streamline the pension sanctioning process in the Central Government Departments/Ministries and provide transparency, accountability and promptness in the system thereby ensuring correct and timely disposal of pension retirement related matters.
The portal would have two components: a) Non-Interactive and b) Interactive. While the Non-Interactive part would contain updated information on pension rules, various instructions issued under these rules and the database of pensioners, the interactive part, which is the most crucial part in the system, would involve registration of grievances of pensioners and their redressal. Grievances monitoring would be done at three levels, which will be interlinked: 1. Pensioners’ Associations Level (At State Headquarters initially) 2. Central Ministry/Department Level and 3. Central Level (Nodal) - Department of Pension & Pensioners' Welfare.
The system would function across all Ministries/Departments and major Organisations of the Central Government and provide hyperlinks to relevant databases - Railways/Posts/Defence/AIS. It would also allow Department of Pension & Pensioners' Welfare to play a nodal role in monitoring the efficient running of the system thereby ensuring the timely delivery of outputs and help the Department in identifying the areas in the existing Pension Rules and various Departments which have abnormal number of grievances which would further help in categorizing these grievances and their redressal process.
