Amazon.in adds 6 new fulfilment centers for Large Appliances and Furniture

Amazon.in announced today that it has invested in 6 more specialized Fulfilment Centres (FCs) in Coimbatore, Pune, Lucknow, Gurgaon, Mumbai and Bhopal and 25 additional Delivery Stations exclusively for the fulfillment of Large Appliances and Furniture. With this launch, Amazon.in, now has a specialised network of 15 FCs spread over 1.3 million square feet with 5 million cubic feet of storage space and 60 delivery stations exclusively to cater to customer needs in over 400 cities.

Given the summer season, customer demand for large appliances especially refrigerators, air conditioners, air coolers and washing machines has increased multifold. To cater to growing customer needs, Amazon.in has also expanded its existing storage capacity in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ludhiana and Ahmedabad. Amazon.in has over 5000 products across brands in the Large Appliances category consisting of Air Conditioners, Air Coolers, Refrigerators, Washing Machines & TVs and over 1mn products covering the entire Home Furniture range including products for Bedroom, Living room, Dining room, Kitchen, Home office & Hallway.

Expansion of this specialized fulfilment network will ensure faster delivery to customers across more than 6,500 pin codes in the country, with customers in 30 cities now being able to avail next day delivery services for these categories. In addition, Amazon.in enables installation services across 200 cities on appliances from leading brands such as LG, BPL, Whirlpool, Bosch, Haier to name a few. Customers can schedule the installation at a convenient time slot during the purchase itself and keep track. For the furniture category, Amazon offers scheduled delivery and installation experience across 45 cities.

With a total of 62 fulfilment centres having a storage capacity of 18.5 million cubic feet, we continue to have the largest fulfilment infrastructure in the industry."

Large appliances are one of the fastest growing categories on Amazon.in. Strategic partnerships with top brands like LG, Haier, Samsung, Whirlpool, BPL and IFB help Amazon.in offer a range of close to 200 exclusive products across product lines including TVs, washing machines, ACs and microwaves.

In furniture, Amazon.in offers more than 1mn products covering the entire Home Furniture range including products for Bedroom, Living room, Dining room, Kitchen, Home office & Hallway. Amazon also has partnerships with major brands in the country like @home, Nilkamal, Laz-y-Boy, Hometown, Spacewood, Kurl-on as well as key regional players like Wake-fit, Royal Oak & Forzza and has close to 500 exclusive furniture products across all room types.

Amazon India offers the largest storage infrastructure for sellers in the e-commerce industry across India with 62 Fulfilment Centres in 13 states with close to 18.5 million cubic feet of storage space. 15 of these are a specialized network that was recently announced to support the rapid growth of the Amazon Now business. And 15 FCs are part of another specialized network exclusively for large appliances and furniture. Amazon.in now has more than 200 of its own delivery stations in the country, with 60 of them being dedicated to process faster deliveries from the large appliance and furniture category.

When using FBA, sellers across India send their products to Amazon's FCs and once an order is placed, Amazon picks, packs, and ships the order to the customer, provides customer service and manages returns on behalf of the sellers.
